SEPTEMBER KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for lamb slaughterings increased for the fifth consecutive month to 1.9 million. This was the highest figure since records began in July 1979.
  • The trend estimate for lamb meat production increased for the fifth consecutive month to 38,700 tonnes. This was the highest figure since records began in July 1979.
  • The trend estimate for pig slaughterings increased for the fifth consecutive month, to 450,000. This was the highest figure recorded since November 2005.
  • The trend estimate for pork production increased for the fifth consecutive month, to 32,400 tonnes. This was the highest figure recorded since December 2005.
